These terms govern your use of Likhtam — the mobile and web accounting app developed and operated by TechShah ("we", "us"), a company based in Delhi, India— and this website. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you're using Likhtam on behalf of a business, you're confirming you have the authority to accept these terms for that business.

Accounts

You need an account to use cloud sync, Trial, or Pro features. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account, including actions taken by team members you invite to a multi-user workspace.

Plans & billing

Likhtam has two plans:

• Free — ₹0, forever, offline-first. No card required.
• Pro — ₹1,499/year, billed upfront via Razorpay. Pro unlocks cloud sync, manufacturing with waste tracking, multiple companies, multiple warehouses, multiple user roles, EMI automation, payment reminders, budgeted expense tracking, the business dashboard, all report types, all 11 invoice designs, data export, and automated backup.

New accounts can try Pro free for 7 days with no credit card required. The trial is a one-time promotional period on the Pro plan, not a separate plan, and can be used once per account.

Refunds, cancellation & renewal

• Full refund window — if you're not satisfied, request a refund within 7 days of your Pro purchase by emailing support@likhtam.com from your account's registered email, and we'll refund the full amount. This applies to your first purchase of a subscription term; renewals of an existing subscription follow the same 7-day window from the renewal charge date.
• After 7 days — fees already charged are non-refundable except where required by law, including where a renewal charge was made in error.
• Renewal — Pro subscriptions renew annually. We'll email you ahead of the renewal date; you can turn off auto-renewal at any time from account settings, and you'll keep Pro access until the end of the period already paid for.
• Cancellation — cancelling stops future billing; it does not itself delete your account or data. To close your account and remove your data, contact support@likhtam.com — see our privacy policy for how deletion works.
• Price changes — if we change Pro pricing, the new price applies from your next renewal, not to a period you've already paid for.

Your data

The business data you enter — invoices, inventory, parties, expenses, loans, journal entries — belongs to you. We store and process it to provide the service, as described in our privacy policy. You're responsible for the accuracy of what you enter and for keeping your own backups if you're on a plan without cloud sync.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use Likhtam for any unlawful purpose, including tax evasion or fraudulent invoicing.
• Attempt to break, reverse-engineer, or bypass the app's security or plan restrictions.
• Resell or redistribute the app or its invoice templates as your own product.
• Use another business's GSTIN/VAT registration or party data without authorization.

Accuracy & tax compliance

Likhtam calculates GST/VAT components and generates reports based on the rates and details you configure. It's a bookkeeping tool, not a chartered accountant or tax advisor — you remain responsible for reviewing your filings and for compliance with your local tax authority's rules before submission.

Communications

We'll send you transactional emails that keep your account running — renewal reminders, payment receipts, security alerts, and responses to your support requests. You may also receive occasional product update emails, which you can opt out of at any time using the unsubscribe link or by writing to support@likhtam.com; transactional emails related to billing and account security cannot be turned off while your account is active.

Availability

The Free plan works offline by design. Cloud sync, backup, and multi-user features depend on our backend being reachable, and we may occasionally need to pause the service for maintenance. We'll aim to keep planned downtime brief and infrequent.

Termination

You can stop using Likhtam and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, including fraudulent payment activity or abuse of the platform, after reasonable notice where practical.

Liability & indemnity

Likhtam is provided "as is." To the extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from use of the app, including errors in tax filings that result from incorrect data entered by you or your team, or losses arising from your own failure to keep independent backups on plans without cloud sync. Where our liability can't be excluded under applicable law, it's limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim.

You agree to indemnify and hold TechShahharmless from claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these terms, your misuse of the Services, or your violation of any law or third party's rights — for example, using another business's tax registration without authorization or entering fraudulent invoice data.

Force majeure

Neither party is liable for delays or failures caused by events outside its reasonable control — internet or power outages, natural disasters, government action, or failures of third-party infrastructure we depend on (such as our cloud database or payment processor).

General terms

If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. You may not assign your rights under these terms without our consent; we may assign ours in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Our failure to enforce a provision isn't a waiver of it. These terms, together with the privacy policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Services.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product evolves. We'll update the date above, and for material changes we'll notify account holders by email before they take effect.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Delhi, India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless local law where you reside requires otherwise.

In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and rules made thereunder, the Grievance Officer for complaints or concerns about these terms or the Services can be reached at support@likhtam.com. We aim to acknowledge grievances within 48 hours and resolve them within 30 days.
